Farewell to 2016
This post is a little bit more personal than ever before, but after so many weeks of keeping quiet, I need to let it all out…
Just last week I played this silly fb game where I had to take a screenshot while the fast playing video was spitting out various things – to reveal what I’d manifest in 2017. And not surprisingly, i got “the art of letting go”…
Like many, I can’t wait for 2016 to be over – there has been too much tragedy and even death in the world. On the personal level, there’s also been quite a few changes. But I stopped accepting them as good or bad, I’ve just accepted them as is – that really helps with the perception of the world around me, I don’t have any unmet expectations and really just work towards finding a solution. Theresa de Rox recently posted about exactly that (and it was very beautiful):
“Wholeness does not mean perfection: it means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life.” -Parker J. Palmer
There is one thing however that I won’t ever accept – the unwarranted personal targeting and harassment. I’m past the age where I would believe someone telling me who I am – thankfully, but perhaps this is where part of the problem is for those who have tried to do everything and anything to get some sort of reaction out of me and have even been trying to harm my business. It is a really sad state of affairs, but I choose not to dwell on that. I keep in mind that silly fb game and my 2017 manifest, because really and honestly, I am grateful. Every little experience in 2016, positive or negative, has made me realise even more of WHO I REALLY AM. So THANK YOU! I’ve met some amazing people along the way and have received support (another lesson of mine, thank you for that too!) from people I may have not expected it from. I finally feel like I am surrounded by “my” people (love you girls <3), my little tribe is flourishing and my right brain is finally being used to its full potential! I know I can do so much more now and no one can ever tell me I can’t!
I only want to say to anyone who may be reading this, that you are as powerful or as powerless as you think you are! Don’t ever doubt yourself, but also be totally honest! It is only with your open heart that you can truly get where you need to be!
I have grand plans for 2017. I am launching my new website soon which will complete this long cycle of rebranding. That means that there will be a new look, new packages and new products. I am very excited to continue my creative exploration and work along side my #dreamteam of other creatives, capturing emotive images and documenting the in between moments. I am grateful for all of my clients who’ve trusted me to capture their best memories in 2016 and can’t wait for 2017!
